Brent Marshall Joins Our 2015 Lineup

We’re delighted Brent is making the trip to CanUX 2015.

Creating Playful Experiences
Nov 7, 2015   10:10am / 20 MINUTES

From reactive dance floors to digital dog collars, from breathalyzers that call you a cab to beer fridges that open when you sing the national anthem correctly or you say “I am Canadian” in five different languages, Brent’s talk will examine his approach for creating near-perfect interactive playful experiences. He will also review some of his projects that redefined the ways we interact with everyday objects, overlapping technology, experience design and the internet of things.

Speaker Bio: Brent Marshall
Similar to Konrad Sauer last year, Brent Marshall is a trained graphic designer who left the ad agency world and created his own home studio, EightLines, in Kitchener/Waterloo. But while Konrad turned his attention to precision one-of-a-kind woodworking tools, Brent decided to pursue his own one-of-a-kind creations: interactive installations. With clients like Samsung, Microsoft, Aeroplan, the Toronto Maple Leafs (boo!), BMO, Telus, Molson, Rogers, Scotiabank, Brent has built a reputation for creating innovative ways for brands to connect with their consumers on an emotional level.

What made the Molson Beer Fridge a huggable piece of Canadiana? It’s probably the presence of an instantly recognizable Canadian artifact far away from our shores. What made the Telus heart at the World Junior Hockey Championships such a hit with those passing by? It’s probably its mesmerizing pulse that mimicked heartbeats every time Canada scored a goal or its ability to respond to social media mentions.
