Our first ever Euro keynote: Cennydd Bowles

We’re delighted to have Cennydd keynote CanUX in 2015.

Product Design for Tomorrow
Nov 7, 2015   4:10pm / 45 MINUTES

The user experience design discipline is stagnating at a dangerous time. Its core mindsets, methods, and tools have been successful over the last decade, but are becoming poorly suited to the challenges of 2015 and beyond. Let’s talk about the next ten years of our field. As diversity – of users, of inputs, of contexts – becomes the dominant force in technology, designers need a more flexible toolkit. Contemporary digital product design demands a mastery of timing and motion, a deep knowledge of modern prototyping tools, and a fluidity of process that allows you to tailor your approach for the task at hand. Let’s talk about the next ten years of our field.

Speaker Bio: Cennydd Bowles

Cennydd Bowles is a digital product designer based in London, England, where he helps companies see the benefits of good design. He is also a leading figure in the British user experience community, and helped to establish the UX London and UXCampLondon conferences. And in case you are wondering, Cennydd’s name is Welsh and is pronounced Kenn-ith (with a hard ‘th’ that rhymes with ‘with’). He even wrote a blog post about its origin and its many mispronounciations.

Until very recently Cennydd worked as Design Manager at Twitter. Previously, he worked for renowned Brighton-based digital consultancy Clearleft. He also authored the acclaimed Undercover User Experience, targeting the book at those who want to introduce design to their organization but lack support and mentoring.

Somehow Cennydd finds time to speak at design and user experience conferences across the globe (in 2011 he became the first non-US citizen to deliver the closing keynote at the IA Summit in Denver, CO) and is a regular mentor of new design talent. He has also been writing about digital design for a number of years on his popular blog, cennydd.com, as well as other influential design publications (he is currently a columnist for A List Apart).
