Back to the Future: CanUX returns in person in 2022

After 3 years, Canada’s premier UX event is back!

We missed you terribly in 2020 and 2021. But after multiple pandemic waves, vaccinations and boosters, it looks like the world is ready to move on. In-person events are back, and the CanUX team has started planning our 11th edition, as originally scheduled on November 3-6, 2022. The format of the conference will be the same: the first two days, Thursday and Friday, November 3-4 will be dedicated to workshops, while the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, November 5-6 will be our plenary conference days containing single-track presentations on the main CanUX stage.

That being said, we know we’re not 100% out of the woods yet. We don’t know what the pandemic will look like in November, nor do we know what Health Canada’s regulations and guidance for events will look like at that time. As such, we’re planning this year’s event a little bit differently.

When it comes to releasing tickets, this year we will take a more cautious approach. We’ll release half the tickets at the end of May, and the other half of tickets at the beginning of September. This will give us the flexibility to run the event with only half the audience should Health Canada’s guidance in the Fall restrict the number of participants once again.

Many of you have been asking if the event will be livestreamed. We believe that if you’re looking for a remote option, there are plenty of events out there with bigger budgets and much better production value than we, as a non-for-profit, volunteer driven event can offer. The reason we put this together every year is to get our community together, in person, to share, learn and get inspired about the work that we do. We love seeing people’s excitement and seeing people’s smiles.

And as it is the case every year, we’re always up to something new. This year will be no different, so stay tuned during the summer as the schedule of festivities will be announced.
