Embrace UX… and Adapt Your Evaluation Methods Accordingly

The emergence of User Experience as a key concern in our field has opened up both exciting perspectives and hard challenges. While we happily embrace UX, established usability evaluation methods remain standard practice. In this short talk, Carine will show how UX alters traditional evaluation methods and will thus reflect on what we need to change in our evaluation practices. Should we adapt established evaluation methods or should we adopt new ones, that is the question!
Speaker Bio: Carine Lallemand
Carine is a research scientist in psychology and HCI at the University of Luxembourg. Her research work is mainly focused on UX design and evaluation methods. She is a former Vice-President and current council member of FLUPA, the French local chapter of the User Experience Professionals’ Association (UXPA). She also previously taught courses on HCI and UX design at the University of Lorraine (France).
Carine recently wrote a handbook titled “UX Design Methods” (co-authored with Guillaume Gronier), to be published in October 2015 and is a co-organizer of FLUPA UX-Day, a premier event for French-speaking UX practitioners. She authors UXMind, a blog dedicated to building bridges between UX research and design practice. When she’s not fully immersed in the world of UX, Carine participates in hot air balloon competitions at the international level.
