Claudel Rheault Will Talk Research in the Context of AI in 2022

The design of AI tools introduces challenges that are particularly unique to the nature of machine learning models and how they evolve. This session will present a case study on developing an AI tool to help our teams of data annotation experts in their day to day work.
We will explore what gaps we saw in user’s perception and adoption of our AI tool at Sama, and what solutions we are putting in place to mitigate the gap. We will cover 3 areas of challenges: prototyping for AI, expectation alignment with users and communicating transparently about model.

After this session, UX practitioners should have gained specific ideas on how to approach designing for good human-AI teaming. It will also look more specifically at human-AI interaction and challenges seen in adoption of AI technology by novice internet users, since our core users at Sama are starting their digital literacy journey.

 Speaker Bio: Claudel Rheault

With a background in communication studies and interaction design, Claudel Rheault is a user experience research lead focused on human-AI interactions at Sama. Her research areas include human in the loop systems, trust building with AI tools and human-centered product development. Over the past 8 years, Claudel has worked in startups and design agencies, helping build technologies and tools for a range of industries, always keeping the problem to solve at the core of development.
