Jess McMullin returns to CanUX 2015
The founder of the original CanUX events returns in 2015.
We Won, Now What?
Nov 7, 2015 2:30pm / 30 MINUTES
In a world where everybody designs and everything is designed, what does the future hold for designers? Jess will review current UX trends, derive a trends framework and consider the impact of futures thinking in the context of experience design. He will also analyze how the framework could influence your UX career decision making in a business environment where the value of experience design is skyrocketing.
Speaker Bio: Jess McMullin
As founder and host of the original CanUX conference and UXCamp Edmonton, organizer/sponsor/host of the inaugural UXcamp Ottawa, and frequent UXcamp speaker over the years, Jess McMullin is no stranger to our event. He is a thinker, researcher and designer who helps organizations innovate services, systems and policies to create a better world. Since leaving nForm, the user experience consultancy he founded in 2003, he’s led the Centre for Citizen Experience, a startup “do tank” that advanced design in the North American public sector.
Currently he is also involved with training, research, advocacy and policy work as the head of Situ Strategy, and is a one of a select group of experts that work through Rosenfeld Media to offer industry-leading training and focused consulting for user experience disciplines.
Jess also regularly speaks and writes about design thinking, innovation, and influencing organizations. He has spoken in Canada, Germany, Italy, Argentina, India and the United States. He started Overlap, an annual invitation-only retreat that gathers many disciplines under the umbrella of design, with friend and co-conspirator Victor Lombardi and has served as a program co-chair for the IA Summit’s Business Strategy & Management track.
Jess also co-founded the Information Architecture Institute and has contributed feedback and ideas for several user experience and design books including Lou Rosenfeld and Peter Morville’s Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, Jesse James Garrett’s The Elements of User Experience, and Gene Smith’s Tagging: People-Powered Metadata for the Social Web.
