Levi Myers Takes Design Underground at CanUX 2025
Lessons From 1 Km Underground
} Oct 3/4, 2025 TBD / 30 MINUTES
Working in Nutrien’s underground mines in Saskatchewan comes with unique challenges, which lead to further challenges and opportunities in the design of software to fit their needs. Lighting, temperature, protective gear, connectivity, power, temperature, dust, shift changes, safety fail-safes, and even the salinity of the air needed to be considered, alongside more standard usability concerns.
Drawing on firsthand experience, this presentation will explore how a team without mining experience applied universal design principles and collaborative, user-focused processes to design effective solutions to help keep miners safe, informed, and efficient. .
