Lou Rosenfeld set to keynote UXcamp 2014
Another keynote for the ages is on deck for the fifth edition of UXcamp Ottawa in 2014
Beyond User Research
Nov 8, 9:00am / 50 MINUTES
UX professionals have made a lot of progress in large organizations. Companies realize the importance of connecting with their users more and more. User research is becoming firmly rooted as companies strive to produce better products and services for their users. But user research itself can be narrow in focus and full of biases. Lou Rosenfeld of Rosenfeld Media, suggests that by breaking down the silos that exist between other research practices, we can create a complementary research experience. This will produce even better analysis and therefore, better products as a whole.
Speaker Bio: Lou Rosenfeld
In the world of UX, Lou Rosenfeld is a legend, one of those instantly recognizable few who require no introduction. Chances are you’ve read one of his books, either one that he authored himself or one of the many published by his company, and no amount of biographical text will accurately render the impact Lou has had particularly within the discipline of Information Architecture, as well as the UX profession as a whole.
He is the founder of Rosenfeld Media, a company that provides unequaled UX expertise not only in print (Rosenfeld Media specializes in publishing UX books), but also in person (RM is a leading UX consultancy and a UX training provider). In addition, Rosenfeld Media has been a supporter of UXcamp Ottawa from our very first edition, and have been part of our success ever since.
Lou and Peter Morville co-authored the best-selling Information Architecture for the World Wide Web (O’Reilly, 1998; second edition, 2002; third edition, 2006), named Amazon.com’s “Best Internet Book of 1998.” The book is considered a classic and is used as a standard text in many graduate-level classes. His newest book, Search Analytics for Your Site, was published by Rosenfeld Media in June of 2011. Lou has contributed regular columns for CIO, Internet World and Web Review magazines, and has written and edited numerous other books, chapters, and scholarly articles.
As consultant, Lou has helped AT&T, Ford, PayPal, Caterpillar and many other large, highly-political organizations grapple with their information headaches.
