Research Your Research: Best Practices for an Optimal User Experience
} Nov 5, 2019 11:50AM / 30 MINUTES
The importance of a product’s user experience is pretty well understood, but what about the experience of actually conducting the research that influences these product decisions? An optimal participant experience reaches beyond just a generous incentive. This talk will walk through best practices and ethical considerations to help evaluate any new or existing research practice, showing practical examples of how they’ve been applied at Spotify.
Speaker Bio: Melanie Buset
Curious about technology at a young age and passionate about research since she learned how to ask “why”, Melanie found her way into user experience research after taking a pause to investigate how to combine her love of psychology, technology, and design into a career.
She has a previous connection to Ottawa as she has completed her Master’s degree in human-computer interaction right in our backyard at Carleton University. Currently a UX research manager at Spotify, Melanie has previously worked for large consumer tech companies (Rakuten Kobo, Shopify). She also has taught UX research at York University and freelance writes and consults whenever possible.
Aside from UX, you will find her practicing and teaching yoga, and enjoying her new home base in Gothenburg, Sweden.
