Peter Merholz set to keynote CanUX 2015

Another keynote for the ages is on deck for the sixth edition of CanUX in 2015

Shaping Organizations to Deliver Great User Experiences
} Nov 7, 2015   9:00am / 45 MINUTES

Design and UX have won. Companies are building in-house teams like never before. Unfortunately, they’re doing so with outdated organizational models, and so are not getting the most out of their design and UX investment (in fact, some companies are getting negative value because of how UX is placed within the organization). In this presentation, Peter will use his personal story of growing a design organization from 30 to 60 as a way to explore how to shape organizations to deliver great user experiences. He’ll delve into matters of organizational models, team structures, and processes to identify how your organization can be most effective.

Speaker Bio: Peter Merholz

Peter is a user experience and design executive with 20 years experience across a broad range of digital media. Currently, he is the Sr. Director of Design at Jawbone, where he is inventing the future by working on wearables and other pieces of the Internet of Things.

In 2001, Peter co-founded Adaptive Path, perhaps the world’s premier firm dedicated to user experience, alongside former 2013 UXcamp keynote, Jesse James Garrett. He’s been instrumental in AP’s growth from a small boutique firm to a renowned international consultancy. More rencently, he led the global design team at Groupon, including product/UX, marketing, and brand design where he doubled the team from 30 to 60, and was instrumental in the first redesign of Groupon.com since the company launched.

Peter is also perhaps most (in)famous for coining the word “blog” in 1999. Really. In the OED and everything. Since then, he’s been blogging continuously at peterme.com.

Peter is passionate about the potential of design’s impact, for making the world a better place by improving people’s lives. Even as an executive, He kept his hand in as a user experience practitioner, focusing on strategy, research, and conceptual design. Peter has been a dedicated thinker, writer, and public speaker about user experience for over a decade.

Coincidentally, Peter is the second Adaptive Path founder who has Ottawa ties, so it’s double special to have him speak in front of our audience.
