Vincent Levesque will discuss design for EV charging in 2023

 Driven by Humans: designing the EV Charging Experience

Electric Vehicles are beginning to be widely adopted by a greater diversity of drivers, and the charging experiences offered by network operators can play a significant role in the transition to cleaner energy. However, one of the biggest remaining hurdles to widespread EV adoption is charging anxiety. Many EV drivers confirmed that they were either intimidated to use a fast charger or the location of the charging site seemed unsafe in certain circumstances.

As FLO began designing its new line of DC fast public chargers, special attention was paid to the needs of a greater diversity of EV drivers. By adopting a user-centric approach early in the discovery phase of design, FLO was able to design a product that will meet the varied needs of EV drivers without compromising the quality and reliability of the charging experience.

This presentation will follow the design team through the discovery process and the insights collected were integrated into the development of the product.
