A Designer Party Deserves a Designer DJ
Toronto’s Ken L Jones to DJ the CanUX afterparty on Sat, Nov 7.
Bio: Ken L Jones
A few weeks ago when we introduced the CanUX afterparty (Saturday, Nov 7 at 7:00pm in the museum’s Grand Hall), we set off to find a musical host for the evening. The search is now over. Even more intriguing about the host’s presence at CanUX 2015 is the fact that he is a designer himself.Toronto based industrial designer Kenneth Wiafe, has a passion for both design and sound. As a recent grad from Carleton University’s Industrial Design program, his final project was given the Innovative Design award at the 2014 ACIDO Rocket competition. His project, an interactive and UX driven headphone for DJs,was recognized as a beautifully designed and articulated product. In the near future, Ken will seek to create innovative products and experiences for DJs, musicians/producers, artists, and sound enthusiasts.
Ken who is known on the music scene as Ken L Jones, has established himself as a cutting edge DJ with a promising future. Primarily known for his work in club environments, KLJ continues to push the boundaries by creating musically engaging experiences for his listeners. Having worked with the likes of recording artists, fashion designers, schools, government, etc., Ken L Jones looks to spread good music amongst the masses.
KLJ has been exposed to many genres of music. From Hip Hop to smooth Jazz, he has kept an open mind, where others stay one-track minded musically. This has given him the label of an open-format DJ, something that he strives to maintain. Ken L Jones’ creative approach to DJing landed him a spot in the 2013 RedBull Thre3Style competition, which takes place annually around the globe. His experience competing against other DJs in the Ottawa qualifier was invaluable, and he has since tailored his approach even more towards delivering finely crafted sets. With an ear for good music and an easy-going demeanor, expect to have a good time when KLJ is behind the turntables. Mix in a serious love for music plus a dedication to perfect the craft, and you’ll see why Ken L Jones never ceases to amaze.
